  • SAVAGE WOLVERINE 6-8

I’m not really a big fan of Elektra, but i’ve always been a fan of the Wolverine/Spidey team-up. They are a comedic mix with Logan’s stone cold seriousness & Parker being Marvel’s original hero with a mouth. It would be interesting to explore Wolverine & Superior Spider-man’s (Dr. Ock) relationship.

Madureira draws a beautiful Elektra. Zeb Wells skillfully keeps the silent assassin central to the story through narration and by her interaction or lack of (the non-conversation between her & Spidey is hilarious) with others. The Arbiters are visually awesome but Paburo is the character i’m wanting to see more of.

By contrasting the savage one with the seemingly civilized Kingpin of Crime, we undetstand why Logan is a good guy. A simple, well crafted tale with morally complex characters. All the shades of red & gray.

My first true introduction into comic books was two issues of Punisher War Journal, art by Jim Lee, guest-starring Spider-Man. I followed Jim Lee to Uncanny X-Men 273, written by the legendary Chris Claremont, starring X-Men, X-Factor, & the New Mutants. So many mutants… Cable, Scott, & Storm arguing over the future. Iceman joking around. Gambit beating Wolverine in the Danger Room. I fell in love. Ever since i’ve preferred teams over solo titles.
